Barcelona have filed a complaint with UEFA over a controversial display by Paris Saint-Germain supporters before their Champions League clash at the Parc des Princes. The giant banner, unveiled as the players entered the pitch, featured a masked figure wielding a chainsaw while destroying the Barcelona crest. The provocative image was accompanied by a Halloween-inspired message that added to the intensity of the pre-match atmosphere.

The display became even more dramatic when PSG fans used pyrotechnics to imitate sparks coming from the chainsaw. Barcelona reportedly viewed the imagery as excessively aggressive and offensive, prompting the club to raise the matter with European football’s governing body. The incident has since drawn attention to the boundaries between passionate fan displays and provocative imagery at major football events.

Despite the controversy surrounding the pre-match spectacle, PSG delivered an impressive performance on the pitch. The French side secured a 4-2 victory, with Désiré Doué, Lucas Hernández, Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz all finding the net. Their attacking display helped the reigning French champions maintain their perfect start to the Champions League campaign, recording three wins from their opening three matches.

Barcelona fought hard to stay in contention, managing to equalise twice through Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal. However, their efforts were not enough to prevent defeat against an energetic PSG side. The result marked Barcelona’s first loss of the season and brought an end to their remarkable 11-match winning streak across competitions.

Both teams must now quickly turn their attention to crucial domestic fixtures. PSG are preparing for a top-of-the-table encounter against Lyon in Ligue 1, while Barcelona will host arch-rivals Real Madrid in the highly anticipated Clásico. With major matches approaching, the controversy surrounding the supporters’ display adds another layer of tension to an already intense rivalry between two of Europe’s leading clubs.
